Our family had a wonderful stay at The Cove! The whole staff was so warm and friendly. The Witches Cottage theme room was comfortable and cozy. The shower is phenomenal! The fixtures were beautiful and the water pressure was wonderful! The suite was very well decorated. Cute and witchy! The beds were soft and comfortable. Very much appreciated after a long day on your feet. Last, the suite is very well lit and bright. The Smart TV was easy to connect to. Plenty of outlets and USB plug-ins. Again, thank you so much for making our vacation special!

I stayed at The Cove over the Memorial Day long weekend from Saturday-Monday with my husband. We checked in on Saturday and the person who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Victorian room which was very clean. The lights in the room flickered just enough to notice the flicker which I am unsure was part of the theme or an actual issue with the lighting. In the shower there was an led light strip lighting up the little shelf that hold you toiletries. Although it looked nice it did have exposed wiring which made my husband, who works in construction, a little concerned. The shower floor was incredibly slippery due to the tile used. We both slipped several times getting either in or out of the shower. Night 1 was fine, the bed was a little uncomfortable for me but that is based on my bed softness preference being on the softener side and the bed being slightly firmer. The hotel appeared to be fully booked but it was still quiet enough. Night 2 was horrible, so much so that my husband and I left around 2am. There were guests in the hotel who were incredibly loud. It sounded like several people were in our room and stomping around from 10pm until 1am. You can very easily hear EVERYTHING from outside the room. I always carry a white noise machine which typically will drown out anything from outside a room but no matter how loud I turned it I could still hear constant stomping. After trying to contact the hotel we have still not heard back.

The hotel seemed relatively new, very clean and spacious. It was a quick 5 minute drive to all the main attractions in Salem. It had a small town feel which was nice. My only issue was the staffs lack of response to take care of my leaking toilet. The toilet was loose therefore not sealed properly on the gasket, thus it leaked toilet water every time we flushed it. We needed to put towels around the base of the toilet. Somewhat disgusting. It was leaking for 2 1/2 days prior to our departure. I understand it’s a small “mom and pop” run hotel and maintenance/plumber may not be immediately available but they should have tried something. Other than that, I would recommend the hotel.

We were excited to stay at this property when we booked. Unfortunately, it did not live up to our expectations in many ways. First, with the exception of housekeeping, we did not find the staff accommodating or helpful. In fact, we found the overnight person rude and put off when we had to call because there was no complete bedding for the sofa bed despite our contacting the front desk beforehand to ensure we had bedding for the sofa bed and an extra blanket and pillow. Despite assurances we would have that, when we got there it had no sheets for our son and just a duvet insert and a pillow without cases. When I called I ended the phone call by telling my husband that the person seemed put off and did not apologize. I knew he had not hung up. When he came by he brought extra towels, sheets, but no blanket. He did apologize then but I think he did so because he heard me. Anyway, it was noisy at times as people walked outside the door to their own rooms. It just is not inexpensive and we expected more hospitality. The room though was nice and clean. I think if it had not started so unpleasant we would be fine.

Property was overall good. Some minor damage to the room and poor drainage in the shower. Unfortunately a fire alarm went off during the middle of the night. This was promptly resolved by Salem fire. Unfortunately that alarm triggered a building security alarm which was constant throughout our stay, not resolved until morning, and impacted the sleep of all travellers. This poor response is the primary reason for 2 stars.
