"One of the nicest Inns we’ve stayed at. Our room was spacious with a king size bed, two comfortable chairs, a huge bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in shower. The extra amenities were wonderful including a Nespresso coffee pot, turndown service and homemade snacks. The included breakfast was delicious.

"Enjoyed the time spent in a quaint, quiet and restful location. Glad I didn't have to drive after I arrived and was able to walk down to the beach, window shopping along the way, and stopping on the return at the park just down the street. "
"What a delightful surprise the Wayside Inn has been! Lovely, spacious, updated room comfortably appointed, and with great beds and pillows. It’s in a terrific location, close to everything, but quiet, too. We got a restful nights sleep before hitting the stores and restaurants.
I will definitely stay here on my next visit to Carmel and will also recommend this wonderful hotel to my friends. "

"Good place especially for families with kids. However, the restaurant service is poor--slow, tables not ready for reservation time (even when few people, they had us wait in the lobby and then after leading us to the table they combined them in front of us while we waited in between diners/other tables). Room Service had to come twice because they 'forgot' part of the order. Basically, the kitchen needs work! The maintenance of the room balcony areas were not clean. The buildings needed...
"A great place to stay in Carmel. This is a small hotel and everything is on point! The room was very nice, good decor and a really nice smell in the room. The location is perfect, you can walk everywhere in Carmel and it's very quiet. The staff was very nice and accomodating, ready with restaurant tips. I would stay there again with pleasure!"

"In a town with narrow streets and tons of pedestrians, this location was easier for driving in and out than many places closer to the ocean. Many rooms have beautiful views of the area. The central brick patio area is inviting, with a fountain and cafe tables. My room was clean but not fashionable; I didn't care because the view was great. I noticed a maintenance issue where a gutter needed repair, but it didn't have an impact on my stay. "
"I was pleasantly please with the “cottage style” of the room! It was comfort at its best, like great comfort food feeds the soul, the cottage atmosphere is like that. I look forward to staying there again"

"The hotel was super clean & updated! It's a short drive from the center of Carmel -- but there's plenty of food / coffee / drinks within walking distance. I didn't get to use the pool but it looked cute & would definitely stay here again if I visit. "
"I wasn't sure if I wanted to book due to the reviews complaining about the noise, small rooms, and lack of parking. However, our trip turned out to be perfect. The room we stayed in was spacious and ideal for my family of 5. There was some noise since the hotel is located in the town, we slept with a window open but honestly they is to be expected when staying in downtown. Parking was not an issue. The staff were extremely friendly. There is an old rotary phone in the lounge that my boys enjoyed using to call the front desk. Unbeknownst to my boys, the front desk staff would answer and humorously refer to it as the bat cave. This became my boys' favorite part of the trip. The hotel is very beautiful and full of character. We dined at the restaurant and the food was good. We wish we could have stayed longer."

"Rose was a wonderfully accommodating front desk clerk. She is very kind and informative. Only down size was the pool was not functional. Pretty much in a state of destruction. Would have been nice to know in advance orat least a discount offered for lack of this amenity."
